What is signs of a weak immune system?
Signs and symptoms of primary immunodeficiency can include: Frequent and recurrent pneumonia, bronchitis, sinus infections, ear infections, meningitis or skin infections. Inflammation and infection of internal organs. Blood disorders, such as low platelet counts or anemia.
- Helps build a strong immune system. Not only is CAMED Immune Defense good to build and maintain a strong immune system that will help fight off bacteria, viruses and a whole hosts of diseases, but CAMED Immune Defense is also currently being used to helps those with a low CD4 counts build and maintain normal lives.
- Beneficial in the treatment of diabetes and associated cardiovascular risks.
- With beta glucans that enhance immune activation, which translates into anti-cancer activity.
Description
Glucose polysaccharides (Beta Glucans) are scientifically-proven biological defense modifiers (BDM) that potentiates the immune response through macrophage and dendritic immune cells to safely yield various therapeutic effects. For many years, various glucose polysaccharides have been investigated for their immune-priming properties, particularly their ability to activate macrophage immune cells and in turn, the T-cells, NK cells and B cells, including selected cytokines and complement.
Cells involved in the immune response originate from stem cells originating from bone marrow. New cells from bone marrow are produced on an ongoing basis throughout the life cycle. However, the formation and migration of newly-formed, white immune cells (that can promote or produce antibodies) is limited, and declines with aging. Glucose polysaccharides nutritionally stimulate the production of needed precursor cells in the bone marrow, yielding an increased flow of immunocytes into the blood stream and the various lymphoid organs.
Beta Glucans, as an example, non-specifically activates the immune system, primarily by ingestion by the macrophage immune cells, through specific and unique beta glucan receptors on the cell surface.
These glucose polysaccharides potentiate and activate various cells in the body, particularly macrophage cells, to release tumour necrosis factor, interleukins 1 and 6, hydrogen peroxide and gamma interferon, all of which fight against invading micro-organisms. Potentiation of the immune response is systemic, activating the immune system throughout the whole body.
Once they are in the immune system, researchers believe beta glucans enhance immune activation, which translates into anti-cancer activity. Spur immune cells to produce anti-cancer compounds called cytokines, which regulate inflammation and help the immune system fight diseases such as cancer.
Beta-glucans are potentially beneficial in the treatment of diabetes and associated cardiovascular risks. Studies have shown that beta-glucans could reduce hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia, and hypertension. Thus, beta-glucan could produce new approaches for the treatment of diabetes.
Beta glucan is one form of soluble dietary fiber that's strongly linked to improving cholesterol levels and boosting heart health. Like many fibers, it's available in supplement form. You can also find it in whole grains, oats, bran, wheat, and barley.

Diet and the Immune System
Since the pandemic hit our shores, most of us have been worried about our immune systems and do what we can to strengthen them, but we often take for granted how our diet here in South Africa can influence our immune system.
The Price of your health
If you had the opportunity to increase the protection of yourself and your family from infection and illness would you take it? Our immune systems depend on a fine balance between our diet, sleep and exercise regime, and stress levels. Increased stress levels are to be expected during this time, not only are people stressed and anxious about the possibility of contracting COVID-19, but many people have increased stress due to their new home and work environments. Job loss or working from home...
Beat COVID
Can you boost your Immune System to help fight COVID-19? With us, in South Africa finding ourselves under yet another lock down from the second wave of COVID-19, which all the scientific evidence is pointing to being three times more infectious, the sober reality is that all of us will in fact get the virus at some point...
